LISBON: City of The Finest Explorers


Lisbon (Lisboa) City is the capital of Portugal which is located beside the Tagus, the longest river that flows down from Spain all the way to Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon is the home of great Fado music and football champions.

Lisbon has a lot to offer from delightful and tasty food, to great music, to contemporary and modern architecture down to nice and friendly locals and a very nice climate. No wonder the city receives significant number of visitors from different places every year.


Lisbon has an efficient and tourists friendly transport system. People have large walk ways with biking lanes right next to it. Streets can be very busy at rush hours and traffic jams can slow down the travel time. There are people who prefer to use their motorbikes and scooters or they just walk along the alley so they can stop by for some drinks.

Lisbon is also known for trams. The famous one is the Tram 28 four tourists. Locals call it “Electrico”. This tram can take you to Lisbon’s interesting tourist’s spots like monuments, churches and public squares to Bairro Alto, Alfama, Baixa, Chiado and Campo Ourique.

Some of the interesting places to go to are:

Praça do Comércio – one of the biggest squares situated beside the Tagus River

Rossio Square – the famous square in Lisbon because it is right next to line of restaurants which makes this a very busy place everyday.

Alfama – the neighborhood of old architectures and houses of Lisbon.

Castelo de São Jorge – the castle built on top of the hill with the view of the city.

Ponte 25 de Abril – the bridge which was designed by the same architect who designed the San Francisco Golden Gate bridge.

Jerónimos Monastery – religious building which is associated to early explorers.

Santa Justa Elevator – elevator to cater people going up or down the hills with a viewing deck at the top.

Chiado – shopping district

Cristo Rei – similar to the Christ Statue in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Torre de Belém – tower strategically located beside the river to protect the town.
